Imperial Commentary
December 8, 2003 - 2009; 6 plus years of some of the best television since I can't remember when.
As the final half of the final season of Battlestar Galactica Re-imagined approaches with promises to reveal the final Cylon, a final look back at the journey so far seemed fitting. It also affords me the opportunity to share the show with my husband, who for some reason waited until the end to pay attention, while looking for those rumored missed clues to that elusive twelfth skin job.
The following commentaries will take an in-depth look at the show from the very beginning through Revelations. These are not reviews, rather they are one fans perspective of the various plot points, character developments and socio-political issues addressed throughout the series that have leapt out and said ‘Oooh…Pick me Pick me!!’
Certain events were pivotal despite being less noteworthy when the episode first aired. Alternatively, as in the case with some of the early mysticism, events were dismissed for being nods to the original show and not really relevant to this ones over all story arc. My intention is to rewatch each episode with an objective eye and full knowledge of the outcomes thus far.
It truly amazes me how many people have watched this show from the start and still honestly think the ending will have some scientific spin versus the very obvious divine direction they have been taking since the first time Caprica Six discusses her faith with Baltar.
Even though I am not really one for the religious angle in real life, the whole concept, a television show about sentient machines that can have half human babies, humans and cylons alike having visions and destinies, just screams higher power or divine intervention to me. This is after all not reality.
I have linked the battlestarwiki.org summaries as well as surfthchannel.com links so those readers that have not seen all of the episodes can read the summaries and even watch the full episode before reading my commentaries.
***These articles are full of Spoilers from the entire series to date as aired in the USA...Continue At Your Own Risk--Moreover, the format assumes the reader has seen all of the episodes and specials aired through the first half of season 4, up to and including “Revelations”***
Thank you all for reading. I hope you enjoy and feel free to send me comments if you feel I missed something or would like to address one of my theories.
