The Bliss of Not Having Control

From May 2007 through May 2008 we lost 2 family members, 2 very dear friends of the family and 2 dogs. Oh! In addition, I lost my job of 6 years and my sweet baby horse broke my arm. Ah yes, ain’t life a bitch? Yes, yes it is. However, as soon as you realize the futility of trying to tame the shrew and you instead buy her chocolate…suddenly the sun comes out.

What was I saying? Oh yes, life is a bitch. And surprisingly, {the women are going to hate me for this one}, if you think of life as you do your woman, and just accept that now and then she is going to be pissed at you “just because”, you will be free of the burden of trying to read her mind. It’s really very simple. LOL.

The point is, whatever has your nerves on end ask yourself if there is anything you can do about it, if there is – then go do it, and if there isn’t, embrace the lack of control. Revel in the bliss of knowing that whatever power lies in wait for us when we die, they did not get the pleasure of our conniption fit today, no sir! If such a power even exists and cares to notice us. If I was that power, I would be laughing my ass off at all the chaos and insanity, most of which comes from people fighting the complete lack of control they have over the bulk of their lives...

We have no control over whom we fall in love with yet we continually screw up perfectly good opportunities to be happy for the sake of keeping in control.

We have no control over the weather yet get irate if the forecast says sun and it ends up raining. Sure the weatherman is supposed to be making educated guesses but in the end it is still just a guess since weather patterns can shift from moment to moment without warning.

People waste so much time fussing over things they cannot control or worse – could have but didn’t and now it’s too late to change – regardless – the result never changes so why are you still fussing about it?

All that energy should be redirected to that which you can control. Now don’t get me wrong – you should always learn from your past. Just don’t carry it around with you all day. The more loved ones we lose the more obvious it becomes that everyone of us is wasting precious time.

You have to ask yourself this – If I die tomorrow, what will be my biggest regret as the life slips from my body? Will you be concerned that you didn’t finish some project for work or that you didn’t spend more time with your kids? Will you regret that you didn’t own more land or that you didn’t spend more time enjoying the land you had? Will you miss the hours you spent wishing your life was better or will you regret not spending that time making the most of the life you had been given?

It just never occurs to some people that not everyone can be Bill Gates or whoever it is they think they are supposed to live up to. When you stop resisting the flow, and learn how to follow the current, you really will find your bliss. Not too mention the complete lack of stress will, in the end, help you to fulfill your wildest dreams.

It's not some cosmic secret. When the path you are on is too difficult, you either turn back, take a break then press forward or find an easier one. Of course, first you pull out the map and make sure you are going the right way to begin with. Just remember the easier paths are easier because they take the long way, meandering back and forth up the hill, while the more difficult paths blazes a trail up the face of a sheered cliff. This 2nd kind is notorious for causing pain and suffering.

We usually try to find a nice mix of in-between paths more on the meandering side because every time we try to cut corners and blaze up that cliff, we general fall off and get buried under the rubble of unfinished projects. Always pressing forward, forgetting half your steps, stumbling and back stepping wastes time and energy.

Pausing instead to go over the map, you make a plan that best utilizes your resources, including your time, you then press forward with a steady even pace. If you take it easy, watch where you are stepping and recheck your gear regularly for wear and tear, eventually you will reach your goal and embrace the glory of all you survey.

There have been several exciting moments in the Empire of "giving up the fight to win the war", but most of those will be covered in the Real Life Anecdotes section...see post labels.

Thank you for reading and Embrace Your Chaos!
